The Fox and the Crow

Based on the Aesop’s Fable - The Fox and the Crow, created for a storyboarding class with Karl Gnass of FigureDrawingSchool.com. Our assignment was to pick a fable and board it out. In this piece I was focused on how the fox and the crow’s personalities played off of each other and pushing the fun with both of their antics. Boarded in Storyboard Pro.

Grid Export - Final Drawings

Grid Export provided below to allow a quicker glance at the story and how the shots related to eachother.

Grid Export - Rough Animatic

Below is a grid export of the first pass of the animatic before notes. Featuring this pass here to show my process and what my roughs look like once I’m boarding in Storyboard Pro, and to show where I took notes and plussed up scenes in the final pass.

Rough Thumbs

In this class we were exploring traditional boarding and digital. We boarded our first thumbnail pass in photoshop in a style based on the paper and pencil days - i.e. Just the main story beats, not tweening for animatics. Below is that first pass.

Sketches and Explorations

Below are some sketches from studying specimens at the Natural History Museum, as well as character explorations and studies from youtube videos to help me understand the movements and anatomy of the three characters.
